Senior Pictures at UMHB | Nykaela

Black Girl Magic was the theme and the vibe for Nykaela’s senior session and I absolutely loved it! From her soft glam makeup, her natural loc’d hair, to her outfit selections portrayed in her senior pictures that she was unapologetic in her black girl power her black is beautiful. I loved everything about this message and was more than happy to help her deliver it. Nykaela is a senior at Harker Heights High School and she also attends the Texas Bioscience Institute. She is so smart, outgoing and talented. I absolutely loved seeing her thrive in her element and exposing all of her interest.

We kicked off her session day with some session day glam by our makeup artist Shartavia with Bawsey Beats Makeup Artistry by Shartavia Denise. Then we headed to a local Starbucks for our college announcement segment of her session. We chose to go with a more collegiate and mature aesthetic for this part. Nykaela will be attending University of Texas at Dallas and studying computer science. So implemented her college banner and laptop as props. I loved the inside photos of her with her laptop that gave a studious look to her senior pictures.

Next we headed to UMHB for her second and final location to show a little school spirit and personality. Her second outfit consisted of some custom drawn senior pants and her letterman jacket. This was my absolute favorite outfit because to me it literally screamed Nykaela. Her jeans showed her artistic and creative side. Her letterman jacket showed all of the things that she stands for.

Lastly, we showed a little bit more of Nykaela’s personality. During her consultation, I found out that she loves to knit and sew so I thought that would be a unique component to incorporate into her senior pictures. She brought a ball of yarn and added in a purse that one of her friends made for her. I was so blown away by how creative these teens are.

Nykaela’s favorite memories from high school are all of the dances that she went to and being able to hang out with her friends. What she’s looking forward to the most after graduating is traveling and hanging out with her friends.
