We brought our first fall senior season in Central Texas to an end with Shalimar. Shalimar is a senior at Ellison High School. She participates in cross country and track and field. At first Shalimar can be a little shy, but once she started to warm up to me, her outgoing and playful side started to show.

First, we started Shalimar’s session off with makeup by our professional makeup artist Shartavia with Bawsey Beats Makeup Artistry by Shartavia Denise. Then we headed to UMHB (University of Mary Hardin-Baylor) for her session. UMHB is a really pretty campus that provides a clean aesthetic, which is something that Shalimar asked for. One of the things Shalimar wanted to show in her senior pictures is her Panamanian roots. So she brought a Panamanian flag to pay homage to her culture. If you know me, then you know that I love personal touches in senior sessions. I think it adds a sentimental feeling to the session.

Next, we showed a little school spirit by switching into her letterman jacket. Shalimar brought her medals and wanted to show off her letterman. With her Jordans and cargos, we decided to have her do some shots on the curb and against the wall to give a little urban vibe.

Lastly, we added a little personality to the session. Shalimar is a sneaker head and wanted to highlight that in her session. She brought her favorite shoes as props. She also chose to go trendy with her wardrobe by pairing a hoodie with a pair of tapestry pants. Tapestry pants are a new urban trend right now and she happened to be the first senior to have them in her senior session. I am all for setting trends!

Her favorite high school memories are from her junior year when she went to regionals for cross country for the first time and made history. Also during her senior year so far, has been the homecoming football game. Next fall, Shalimar plans to attend the University of Oregon and study biology. She plans to go to medical school to become a dermatologist.
